We are pleased to introduce our new serological test for the detection of Strangles in horses, ID Screen® Strangles Double Antigen ELISA (cat. STRANGDA).

Strangles is a highly contagious bacterial infection of equids caused by Streptococcus equi subspecies equi. It affects the upper respiratory tract, causing fever, severe rhinitis with nasal discharge, anorexia and lymph node abscessation. 

The new ID Screen® Strangles Double Antigen ELISA may be used:

for identification of infected horses, including asymptomatic carriers without the need for invasive procedures such as guttural pouch lavage
to determine prevalence of infection and conduct disease management
to demonstrate freedom of infection for individual animals prior to movement or sale
